Shayne and our 4th night camp spot. We slept in our car for the trip and it was great. Each day we packed up (which took about 20mins) and found somewhere else to explore.

About OzWit

Welcome to Ozwit the free information site for people wanting to travel Australia, or as we call it “The Travellers Guide to Freedom”. The site includes a Travelling with kids page with kids car games, kids educational games, kids holiday activities, kids play, kids safety and other kids things to do, also we have links for Distance Educationa list of distance education facilities throughout Australia.

What’s camping without the good old camp oven, the rustic camp cookware? We dished up some great camp oven cooking and decided to put together a Cooking with Camp Ovens page and a Camp Oven Recipes page and whilst on the subject of cooking have a look at our 40 Ways to Cook Mince gallery there’s a flavour for everyone. Then there’s our OzWit recipes – recipes we enjoy cooking and/or invented ourselves.

There is fishing in Australia section with links to State Fisheries sites for Licenses, Sizes and Bag limits also info on how to skin and fillet a fish.

Check out the Hot Tips and Downloads section - you may just find what you’re looking for, and if you have any useful information to add to this site please don’t hesitate and send it to admin@ozwit.com and if you would like to be an affiliate of OzWit send your link and a message to design@ozwit.com.

A must have book we described as the bible on our journey is the Camps Australia Wide series, now in it's sixth edition - check it out, it is a most valuable resource.

Our Magnificent Country

Anyone who has travelled Australia will understand the awestruck feelings and emotions you get when viewing our lands.

When you really have travelled you know why the overseas traveller keeps coming back.  We met a Swiss couple who were on a holiday in Australia some 17 years ago, they could not understand why we do not get out and see our great country more.  They have literally been here seven or eight times and never get tired or bored to come back and see another location. We met a Dutch couple in Western Australia while we too were exploring this grand land, they were amazed of the size and beauty of the land and enjoyed the friendliness of the Australian culture and can’t wait to get back.

Water FallAustralia certainly captures the imagination of the world traveller.  With our rocky outcrops, vast deserts, spectacular waterfalls, and colourful landscapes, an achievement of nature’s architect at work.  Ahh… and then there is the weather, it can be stifling hot during the day and bitterly cold at night!
Did you know that we have over 2,000 islands waiting to be explored and countless National Parks, more than any other country?

You learn to understand the aboriginal culture and their beliefs in respecting the land with a spiritual reverence.  Indigenous Aboriginal ArtAustralians have known the spiritual strength of the land for over 40,000 years; after all they have the world’s oldest living culture.  It is their wish to hold onto their traditions, culture and stories through art, dance, myths, music and the land itself, which you certainly get a taste of when travelling Oz.

We are all too swept up with life and is seems to be getting busier and more rushed every year.  We live our daily lives with diaries and schedules.  Travelling is certainly a very spiritual experience and to be rid of those restraints is liberating.  We have learnt to be still and enjoy the view where plains stretch to eternity and people can yarn forever.  Yes, you learn to listen too.  You certainly learn a lot about yourself during this time.
To those who would like to travel, what are you waiting for?
There has never been a better time than right now!

Travel Australia
In this site we have provided logistics of planning for your trip, vehicle, setup, camping gear and essentials, including inventories.  There are useful tips from experienced travellers.  We encourage you to make a rough itinerary, but you will soon learn that you cannot follow it religiously otherwise you will miss out on some spontaneous memorable experiences and places along the way.

We have tried to help with choices recording your trip budget, having your mail forwarded, getting along with truckies and even how to make a camp oven in some sort of practical order.

Even if you think you know most things, you may just pick up one hint that will make your journey more pleasurable.
Generally fuel and food are the most expensive items most people occur when travelling so we have supplied some useful ideas of ingredients, recipes and cooking methods for the budget conscious.

Keep an eye out for the OzWit Diary/Record Journal coming soon which will innovate and help you along the way.  This is one of the most challenging aspects of travelling, unless you have access to a money tree, budgeting is a necessary evil
